Assisted Living (AL) Waiver The Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) Assisted Living (AL) Waiver maximizes the independence of Nevada's frail elderly by providing assisted living supportive services to eligible individuals in a residential facility that offers 24-hour supervised care, individual living rooms, a kitchenette, sleeping area or bedroom, and contains private toilet facilities.
Waiver for the Elderly in Adult Residential Care (WEARC) -
The purpose of this waiver is to offer individuals a less expensive alternative of supervised care in a residential setting.
Home and Community Based Waiver The Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division's Home and Community Based Waiver (HCBW - formerly CHIP) provides non-medical services to older persons to help them maintain independence in their own homes as an alternative to nursing home placement.

Who Qualifies For Assistance?

Who qualifies for the elderly waiver in Nevada? All three Nevada aging waivers - The Frail Elderly Waiver; The Home and Community Based Waiver; and Waiver for the Elderly in Adult Residential Care (WEARC)- share the following requirements:
1) Be 65 years of age or older.
2) Be at risk of institutionalization if services are not provided.
3) Be financially eligible (Must not exceed asset and income limits)

Additional Requirements For Each Waiver:
Assisted Living (AL) Waiver
- To qualify, a person must meet housing eligibility at an assisted living facility that receives a Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC).
Home and Community Based Waiver - No other requirements.
Waiver for the Elderly in Adult Residential Care (WEARC) - To qualify, a person must be Functioning at an intermediate level of care. The person must also be able to walk unassisted, OR walk with a cane or walker, OR Transfer independently from a wheelchair. The person must also be able to protect his/her self in case of an emergency and possess average judgment.

- COPE Program - The Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division's Community Service Options Program for the Elderly (COPE) provides non-medical services to older persons to help them maintain independence in their own homes as an alternative to nursing home placement. This program is similar to the HCBW Program.
- Title XX Homemaker Program -The Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division's Homemaker Program is an essential community-based service based on the principle that in-home care can help preserve or improve the quality of the recipients' lives and reduce the need for unnecessary out-of-home care. The Homemaker Services are available statewide.
